I have been teaching first-year composition, creative nonfiction and advanced academic writing for the past three years at a local university, and the thing I enjoy most about teaching is working one-on-one with my students. I have experience tutoring students of all ages, from elementary all the way up through undergraduate levels. I have training as an editor, and worked for a trade publishing company for three years. I have experience tutoring special needs students and working with homeschooling and internet school systems. I am a certified reading tutor, trained to assess student learning styles and to tailor tutoring sessions to their individual needs.

My favorite thing to do in the whole world is read; I love all kinds of books, from juvenile fiction to scholarly theory. When I'm not reading, I enjoy hanging out with my teenage daughters and chatting with friends on social media. I also love going to the movies, and am secretly a pretty big geek: from Star Wars to the latest superhero flick, I'm there. My other interests include exploring historical sites and traveling to new places, baking, and doing arts and crafts with my kids.
